Young Enterprising Society offers STEAM Program to Lake Providence Youth

Young Enterprising Society is privileged to offer STEAM Programming to Lake Providence High School during the week of June 3, 2019. YES will provide programming at Lake Providence High School on June 3 – 5, 2019 from 9am – 1pm. Students will be taken through an intense STEAM introduction. Topics that will be covered include, but are not limited to Virtual Reality, drones, photography/videography, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Computer Science, and life math. YES uses the base of STEAM to explore business building principles. Using the Business Model Canvas, we encourage students to become entrepreneurs and show students how to build, grow and maintain their respective business ideas. The John H. Scott Memorial Fund has committed to covering the costs of up to 25 high school students in the Lake Providence. LA area as this will be a great opportunity to teach a different demographic of students while expanding our programming to another state.

Young Enterprising Society’s mission is to be an international epicenter for financially, politically and socially progressive individuals. Serving as a hub, YES mobilizes people, information, resources and capital for the greater good of its members and society at large.

YES uses Steve Blank’s internationally recognized, Lean Startup Canvas to navigate students through an entrepreneurship program that begins to correlate how STEAM is used in real world applications. The topics chosen give students an overview of not only the career paths of today, but also the top careers when they enter the workforce. This process begins to mold their minds to be entrepreneurs and business owners in addition to workers and laborers. While a workforce is always needed, more innovative thinkers must be groomed from within the United States educational system. YES has taught over 2,500 students in the STEAM discipline in the largest Metropolitan areas including, New York City, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Milwaukee.
