The J. H. Scott Memorial Fund is offering two grants, up to a maximum of $1000 each, to support youth services for the 2012-2013 academic year. The following are eligible to apply:
1) Educators or educational institutions
2) Youth Clubs/organizations or nonprofit organizations that work with youth
3) Religious organizations
Grant 1 will be restricted to applicants operating in the following parishes: Richland, Tensas, Madison, West or East Carroll Parish.
Grant 2 is unrestricted by location.
Grants may be used to support projects or programs that:
1) Expand educational opportunities for youth, particularly in mathematics, science, & technology
Examples: Field trips, supplemental educational materials, participation in educational conferences or programs
2) Facilitate participation of children in cultural events or activities
Examples: Visits to an art gallery, museum, play, or festival; travel costs to volunteer at a homeless shelter
3) Promote personal development
Examples: Mentoring programs, anti-bully programs, youth retreats
Grants may be used for but not limited to: Travel costs, tickets to events, course materials, books, meals
Each applicant must submit an application by November 30th. All completed applications postmarked by that date will be considered. Grant winners will be notified no later than January 1st. Grant recipients must provide a report with receipts within 30 days of project/event completion and a final report must be submitted no later than July 15, 2013.
